DIGIPAK
This is our original digipak design drawn on an A4 piece of paper which shows parts of Mira and Jack's faces on both the front and back. We thought about having half of each of their faces and matching them up in the centre but when it came to photoshopping the faces we realise this wouldn't work due to our different face sizes and shapes.
We asked for some teacher feedback and we were told that Jack's face only being a third looked weird when we photoshopped it because it appeared like he was squashed in a box and it made Mira look more like the centre of attention when actually we want to present both artists as equally important in the duo. Also, we spoke to a member of our target audience and she said that having both the front and back panels as their faces seems too repetitive and boring so we decided instead to use a location promo shot.
PROMO SHOTS
During this week we also decided which promo shots we wanted and where we wanted to take our location ones. We ended up choosing a placed in Walthamstow called 'God's Own Junkyard', a shop where there is lots of neon lights and signs. We decided we wanted to use the motif of lights throughout our marketing as they represent light and joy, something we want our artist to promote.
Below are some of the promo shots we took on location.

To the right is a Disclosure promo shot. Their friendship also comes across in this shot as one of them is leaning on the other.
Ultimately, we want our duo to be together in most shots as they are a couple and so we want to express their closeness quite obviously. Because their target audience is aged 16-24 and we want them to promote an urban, London image, they will be wearing branded clothes and will have contemporary hairstyles such as space bun for the girl.
PHOTOSHOP
Photoshopping proved to be a difficult task as no one in our group had good practice using it and so we needed a lot of help from the media technician to begin with. However, once we learnt how to use the various tools, we were able to photoshop the promo shots so that they had no background and then use them for our digipak and website.
The image above is an example of one of the photos we needed to photoshop. I learnt how to use the quick selection tool to highlight only myself and then delete the background behind me. I then had to refine image and smooth the edges of my hair and clothes so that it looked natural. After doing this, I saved the image as a PNG and was able to use it successfully on the website.
