WEBSITE
During this week we finalised the ideas we had for our website and decided that we wanted 3 landing pages that you can click through, with one of them being a promotion for our debut album. AlunaGeorge's website shows an example of this.
We had to bear in mind the conventions of an artist's website which includes:
- clear navigation of the pages (e.g. a menu bar that remains consistent)
- opportunities to get involved (e.g. sign up to newsletter)
- links to other platforms (e.g. social media links)
A website that shows a good example of these things is Little Mix's website as it is very interactive and engaging, aimed towards a target audience of teenage girls. Below are some of the quizzes they have on their website.
We spoke to our target audience and asked them what they would want to see on the website. They suggested the following:
- Top songs and videos
- Up-coming gigs and tour dates
- Contact details
- Pictures of the artist
Taking these suggestions on board, we will try to make our website as appealing to our target audience as possible, as well as following conventions.
It was also important for us that we had a news link so that our fans feel connected and engaged. WE gained this idea from Justin Bieber's 'The Latest' page on his website.

MERCHANDISE
For our merchandise, we wanted to have items that people of our target audience would buy and so we decided on jumpers and canvas bags as this is what was mentioned frequently when we spoke to members of our core audience. The main idea we had was to put shots that we would take from our location promo shoot as they would likely be vibrant and colourful.

Ariana Grande's website shows her merchandise which also includes round neck jumpers like ours and so we used this as inspiration when choosing which merchandise we wanted for our 'Shop' page.

Editing the promo shots onto the jumpers was quite simple, we just used Photoshop to edit the photos slightly by changing their saturation and brightness and then we added a shadow effect around the photos to make them look like they are a part of the jumper.
